La Bretagne: Prémières Impressions

My first impressions of Brittany:

Most people who are actually from Brittany are extremely tan. It makes me realize how much sun I’m missing out on living in Le Nord.

Galettes are delicious. Galettes with chevre chaud, miel, et salade (melted goat cheese, honey, and lettuce) are to die for.



Why do people buy caramel from anywhere else in the world? Caramel au beurre salé is so delicious that I have a crêpe with the stuff whenever possible.

The water is really cold, but a beautiful clear blue. There are giant rocks everywhere.



The tides really are impressionant (impressive).

I finally understand why people want to retire in France. These houses are so adorable; I want one.

  1. Now you remind me of your mother and me. When we would go on vacation we often wanted a house where we vacationed. You have choosen well. How are they on the inside?

  3. I am kind of obsessed with House Hunters International, and they usually always are looking in Bretagne! Salade avec chevre chaud is my favorite food? I will never forget the first time I had it...oh man.

    That's because during the month of August, Brittany is full of Parisians my dear. Having spent five years there, I can assure that there is very rarely enough sun for one to see a tan Breton. :D

    But the galettes and caramel au beurre salé are indeed to die for!!

  5. That salad sounds and looks delicious and the caramel au beurre...I've had them before and they are wonderful....so creamy they melt in your mouth.

  6. I agree with Sam on this one -- my months living near Brittany were some of the rainiest, cloudiest months of my life in France, but it is definitely a gorgeous region! I also love some chevre chaud on my galette and the caramel.. yummm!!

    can't wait till you get home though.. we'll have to have a big ch'nord beer and a welsh to welcome you back :)

  9. Mike: I have no idea. I didn't get to go inside any of them. But the outsides are so beautiful with the gray and pink stones, blue roofs, and some of them even had towers!

    Joshua: It is gorgeous!

    Brenna: I totally know why now. All the houses there were straight out of a fairy tale. Lots of them even had towers and it was just all so beautiful. Plus nothing is better than melted goat cheese.

    Ksam: Actually, FBF is good friends with a lot of Bretons and they were all more tan than us. I think it has to do with living in a beach town and taking advantage of the sunny days by going to the beach or being outside in general. I don't do that enough in Lille as the ocean is about an hour away by car and I'm not lucky enough to have a yard. Where in Brittany did you live? We were in Trégastel.

    Can't wait to come back to the land of good beer!

    Kaley: Do it! The butter, caramels, and galettes are all amazing. Totally worth the trip.

    Marianne: The houses are seriously straight out of a fairy tale.

  10. Aaaah, la Bretagne! I spent two weeks there earlier this month & was totally enchanted. Now I'm back in Annecy, where it's way too hot for my liking. I miss the ocean & cool breezes already... guess I am really a West Coast girl at heart.

  11. I was looking for a compositon model xD I have to write about bretagne to my parents and malheureusement I have only trente minutes pour la finir et je spend mon temp on writing comments :P je suis tres intelligent xP
