St. Valentin de Loin

Because we are separated by most of France, Spain, the Atlantic Ocean, and probably 44 or so American States, FBF and I sent each other Valentine's Day packages.

FBF was on top of it. He knew what he wanted to give me, packaged it, and took it to La Poste way before I even knew what I wanted to give him. He even sent me photographic evidence of the package being sent away, just to torture me.

Torture.

I finally got around to figuring everything out for him and sent it a little bit late. I was really worried about it getting there in time.

But guess what? My package got there a day early, and his has yet to arrive.

I blame La Poste (because they are evil) and everything being inefficient in France. He blames US customs.

Either way it's Valentine's Day and as if it wasn't already hard enough to be far away from each other, we don't even get to celebrate it in this small way.

Here's to hoping we'll be reunited for next year's St. Valentine.

  1. Stinks you had to be so far from your beau on V-day, but glad one present arrived in time and USPS trumped La Poste (even if it's a bittersweet victory)!

    1. It is totally a bittersweet victory! And on top of it all, he wont even open his present until I get mine.

  2. sweet post, chèrie! So sorry about the hiccup in transit. I've had the same experience getting things to land from this direction so it's no real mystery as to the functionality of La Poste...and I use the term 'functionality' very loosely! On the other hand, you have something nice to which to look forward! Just keep humming Annie's theme song...'tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow...' ;}

    1. Thanks for the support Leslie! It's been really hard to be apart and I was hoping Valentine's Day would make us feel more together, but no. Still no package! Hopefully it'll get here soon.

  3. You two are absolutely adorable. Being separated by such a distance any day of the year is awful, and I'm sorry that you are still. Any indication when you can get back?

    1. Thank you so much :) I'm applying to grad school right now so hopefully I'll be out there come September, but if I don't get in then who knows? We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

  4. I like how you both blame the other person's country! Haha. I think the Spanish postal service is also very inefficient.

    Sweet idea.

    1. I came back beginning of December. FBF came out for two weeks over Christmas and since then we've been doing the long distance thing. It sucks. Are you coming out to California any time soon?
